Good enrichment does not need to be expensive
Boxes, paper balls and food puzzles made from an egg carton can provide excellent opportunities for play and hiding.
- Remove staples, tape, string and loose parts that could be swallowed.
- Rotate toys; putting everything out at once makes them become boring more quickly.
- Imitate hunting with short play sessions and allow your cat to “catch” the toy regularly.
- Put fishing-rod toys and string away after play.
Suddenly stopped playing?
Reduced activity may be caused by pain, osteoarthritis or illness. Such a change deserves particular attention in senior cats.
