Yes, I really am that cat person

To me, a cat is never “just a patient”.

I am Marieke: European Specialist in Veterinary Internal Medicine, speaker, cat nerd and Pip’s human. I know how worrying a sick cat can be — and how frustrating it is when you sense that something is wrong but cannot quite pinpoint it.

That is why I combine specialist knowledge with careful listening, calm observation and explanations that are genuinely useful at home.

When a health problem needs a deeper look

I investigate and treat cats with complex or chronic conditions, usually following referral by their own veterinarian. I look beyond a single test result or organ and consider the whole cat.

  • Chronic vomiting, diarrhoea or weight loss
  • Kidney disease, thyroid disease and diabetes
  • Poor appetite or unexplained feeding problems
  • Urinary problems, respiratory disease and FIP
  • Multiple conditions in senior cats
My approach

Understanding the whole story

Cats often show illness differently and more subtly than dogs. A cat-friendly approach, listening carefully to you and thoughtful clinical reasoning can make a real difference.

My goal is not only a diagnosis, but a realistic plan that fits your cat and your life together.

Sharing knowledge

Specialist knowledge should not stay behind closed doors.

I write for cat owners, teach veterinarians and speak at international conferences. The science may be complex; the explanation does not need to be.
